About strength foundations

We are inviting a small group of women to participate in an eight-week Founding Member Preview.

This program is designed for women to develop the muscles and movement patterns that support everyday life. You will learn what to do, why you’re doing it and how to progress safely.

With personal guidance from Susan you can create consistency and turn good intentions into a sustainable strength practice. You will learn what to do, why you’re doing it and how to progress safely.

You don’t need to be experienced to begin. An intake consultation will enable Susan to design your starting point based on your history, where you are now, and your training goals.

Why Strength Matters
for Your Daily Life

Building strength is your ticket to keeping your independence and doing what you love. By building muscle now, you create a physical savings account that protects your freedom, protects your joints, and gives you the energy to keep up with life..

  • Protecting independence: Lifting groceries, opening heavy doors, and getting out of chairs remains effortless.
  • Preventing falls: Better muscle tone directly improves your balance, coordination, and stability.
  • Saving joints: Stronger muscles absorb daily impact, which significantly reduces knee, hip, and back pain.
  • Boosting bones: Resistance training signals your body to keep bones dense, thick, and fracture-resistant.
  • Fueling energy: More muscle mass naturally revs your metabolism and beats daily fatigue.

Being strong makes everyday life much easier. When you build physical strength, you create an energy reserve that helps you handle daily tasks with ease, both right now and as you grow older.

Turning Insight into a Personalized Starting Point

The information gathered during your intake consultation allows us to design a strength program specifically for you. You begin at your level and progress appropriately.

  • Designed specifically for women 60+
  • Provides a progressive strength pathway rather than stand-alone exercise classes
  • Personalized progression within a group setting
  • Simple progress measurement
  • Designed to build confidence as well as strength

We believe getting older doesn’t mean becoming less capable. Strength Foundations helps women discover what their bodies can still learn, build and become.

Who Strength Foundations
is Perfect For

This program is designed for women who want to remain strong, steady, and confident in the years ahead. It may be especially valuable if you:

  • Feel less stable than you once did
  • Notice stiffness or discomfort in your neck, back, or hips
  • Have been inactive and are unsure where to begin safely
  • Want to improve your posture and overall strength

Most women I work with are not looking to become athletes. They simply want to feel strong, capable, and confident moving through their daily lives.

What Women Often Discover Beginning a Weight Training Program

One of the most valuable parts of the program is the awareness it creates. Women are often surprised to discover the beliefs they’ve had about weight training are simply not true. Removing these barriers to improving health opens up new possibilities.

For example:

  • It’s not too late or you’re not too old to start. Research shows that muscle can be built at any age, and resistance training can even reverse age-related muscle loss.
  • Strength training does not hurt joints. It protects them by strengthening the muscles that support the joints. Strength training is often recommended for reducing arthritis pain.
  • Weightlifting will not lead to a bulky physique. Building significant muscle mass is difficult for women over 60. Strength training will primarily creates strength, stability, and confidence, while enhancing metabolic health.
  • Cardio, walking, Pilates, or yoga are great, just not sufficient for health on their own. Lifting heavy weights can offer strength, bone density, and functional independence benefits that other practices cannot.
  • Strength training is not only for young people.Strength training is actually more crucial for women post-menopause to prevent bone density loss.

And from that awareness, meaningful improvements can begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely. We begin gently, at a pace that feels comfortable, and build strength gradually. There’s no pressure and no judgment. You’ll be amazed by how quickly your confidence grows.

That’s very common, and I design every workout with your limitations in mind. You’ll receive modifications, alternatives, and supportive coaching every step of the way.

This is normal — and you won’t feel this way for long. My coaching style is warm, supportive, and completely judgment-free. I celebrate your progress, honor your pace, and help you feel proud of every step you take.

That is okay. Many exercises can be adapted using a chair or standing position. You’ll be encouraged to work at a level that feels safe and appropriate for your body.

I have a Personal Trainer certification with a Senior Fitness specialization through the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Most women begin feeling improvements within just a few weeks. More noticeable physical changes typically appear between 6–12 weeks, depending on your consistency and goals.

Very little. Most clients start with a pair of light dumbbells, resistance band, sturdy chair, and a yoga mat (optional). If you don’t have anything yet, we can begin with bodyweight exercises.

If you have a diagnosed condition or concerns about exercise safety, I will likely ask you to get medical clearance first. We discuss safety issues during our first meeting. This ensures you feel confident and supported before starting your program.

Just schedule a free consultation. We’ll talk about your goals, your comfort level, and what you hope to feel in your body. If it’s a good fit, we’ll create a personalized plan and take the first step together.

Make this the moment that you
see what’s possible as you age.
