About Susan
personal trainer, senior fitness specialist
ministerial counselor
Working out has been a part of who I am throughout my entire adult life.
My commitment to fitness stems heavily from being overweight as a child and up into my college years. One day an invitation to a college party made me realize that I could no longer tolerate not feeling good about how I looked. So, I put myself on a weight loss diet and lost 40 pounds over the next year. That began a lifetime practice of healthy eating.
I first fell in love with working out when I was 30. I was living in rural New Hampshire and the gym I was going to closed. The next closest was half an hour from home. So I started running. When I moved back to the Bay Area I continued to run while always having a gym membership for overall training.
When COVID hit I didn’t know how I would survive without the gym. My husband and I immediately ordered a spin bike from Amazon. I invested in a few pairs of dumbbells and started lifting at home. I found a couple of personal trainers I liked on YouTube. Through these women, I began to get familiar with the dumbbell exercise movements. I got into a routine and became hooked.
I liked what the weight training was doing for me so much that it inspired me to become a certified personal trainer.
I am a National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer with a Senior Fitness Specialization. I’m also an Ordained Ministerial Counselor through Pathways of Light. Prior to launching Redefining Age, I had a 40-year career in marketing. My roles ranged from Circulation Director for Mother Jones to marketing data consultant for Bank of America to running my own agency for 18 years.
I strongly believe that women need to know what happens to our bodies during the aging process. I also want to provide the physical, emotional, and mental support to help women thrive in their later years of life. I believe this stage of life holds incredible potential, and I’m here to help you step into it with vitality and joy.

Why I created Redefining Age
I created Redefining Age because I believe women deserve more than the limited stories our culture tells about aging.
We are often taught to fear getting older, to shrink our expectations, to accept decline, or to become invisible. But I have come to believe that this stage of life can be one of the most powerful and purposeful seasons a woman will ever experience.
My own path has taught me that strength is physical, emotional, and spiritual.
- Strength is built through the choices we make every day.
- Strength is built when we decide to care for our bodies with consistency and respect.
- Strength is built when we stop telling ourselves it is too late.
- Strength is built when we become willing to imagine something more.
Redefining Age grew out of my own love of strength training, healthy living, personal growth, and helping women see what is still possible for them.
This work is personal to me because I know how empowering it feels to become stronger in your body and clearer in your life. I also know how much women can flourish when they are educated, encouraged, and supported.
Let’s rewrite the story of aging with strength, joy, and meaning.
If you are ready to feel stronger, move with more confidence, and reconnect with the vibrant woman within you, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
